Giving Back
At the heart of Langata Link are Neil and Gemma McRae, both born and raised in Kenya. While they’ve travelled abroad for education and leisure, they’ve witnessed firsthand the stark disparity in wealth and living standards within the country. Their involvement in Residents Associations, Sports Club committees, and charity projects throughout their lives in Kenya has shown them how their voices can be heard and how their actions can drive positive change for a better world.
Driven by a desire to give back, Gemma was determined to use the prime location and loyal clientele of the Langata Link complex to make a meaningful impact. In 2018, they launched The Circle of Life Charity Shop, which has grown steadily over time, providing not only funding but also donated goods to support local groups and charities.
The on-site Recycling Station was another initiative that allowed them to engage the local community in sustainability efforts. By encouraging recycling, one bottle at a time, they have helped shift mindsets and foster environmental awareness. The station has become a popular destination for locals and has even inspired other areas to set up their own recycling stations, spreading the message further.
Welcome to Circle of Life Charity Shop

What We Do
At Circle of Life, we collect and sell quality pre-loved items—clothes, books, household goods, and more. But the real treasure lies in what we do with the proceeds. All funds go directly toward supporting local children’s homes and donating essential supplies to schools in need. Every item you buy or donate helps us uplift young lives and bring hope to the future generation
Where every donation makes a difference.
Nestled in the heart of Langata Link Complex, Langata, Circle of Life is more than just a charity shop—we’re a movement of kindness, sustainability, and community impact.

“the power of individual actions can positively impact the environment”
We firmly believe in making a positive impact on the planet through the small actions we can take. Ten years ago, we partnered with Taka Taka Solutions to establish one of the first recycling stations in Nairobi. In many developing countries, there’s often a lack of funding and infrastructure to manage waste, leading to vast areas becoming informal dumping grounds. However, much of this waste can be recycled or repurposed. To address this, we set up drop-off points for bottles, plastics, and paper, providing a vital service to the community. This initiative has been incredibly successful, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with Taka Taka Solutions and Bottle Logistics.
When Langata Link Shops was established, we noticed a growing number of local artisans seeking discarded materials to upcycle into unique products to sell. Our Recycling Station became a resource for these talented individuals, offering them access to glass bottles, bottle tops, and other materials for their cottage industries. We’re thrilled to be part of this full-circle process, providing these artisans with free materials to create products that are then sold at Langata Link Shops. This not only supports their creative work but also helps provide them with sustainable incomes through the sales.
