Our Directors
Neil & Gemma McRae

Born and raised in Kenya, Neil and Gemma have made their mark as entrepreneurs, building a family business into a trusted and well-known brand both locally and internationally. Raised with a deep understanding of the unique challenges Kenya offers, they’ve chosen to make it their home and raise their two children here, giving them valuable insight into what it takes to thrive in this dynamic environment.
They have cultivated a dedicated and well-trained team across their businesses, a reflection of their own personalities and kind-hearted nature, ensuring exceptional service in everything they do. With their children, Marina and Jake, attending school locally and their entire immediate family settled here, Neil and Gemma are committed to their life in Kenya for the long haul. Passionate about staying ahead of customer needs, they continuously adapt their businesses to meet changing demands, this dedication is evident in the care and attention they give to the Langata Link complex and all their ventures. Outside of work, Neil and Gemma are avid sports enthusiasts, regularly found on the hockey pitch, tennis court, golf course, or cycling around the area.
Our Founder
Heather Boustead
Born and raised in Kent, England, Heather Lawrence pursued careers in nursing and secretarial work before deciding she needed to expand her horizons. In her 20s, she joined British Caledonian Airways as an air hostess, travelling the world. In 1976 on one of her trips to Nairobi, she met Mike Lawrence, born and bred in Kenya, and came out to live here.
She married and settled in Nairobi, and saw a gap in the market and formed a company Hotel Secretaries Ltd, providing secretarial services and office accommodation. In 1978, Mike and Heather moved ‘to the bush’, and bought land in Langata moving from Lavington. Over the next 10 years, she had three children whilst backing up her husband’s career. All the children were educated in Nairobi and then went onto boarding school in UK.
In 2006 Mike sadly died, and Heather decided to sell some of the businesses they had built up together. One of these was Langata Link, which Gemma took over in 2007. Heather was lucky enough, to remarry and she and her husband Philip, and they live in her original house in Langata 40 years later.

Our Team
At Langata Link, our team is the heartbeat of a legacy built on trust, resilience, and exceptional service. With over 30 years behind us, we’ve cultivated more than just a workplace—we’ve built a community that thrives on honesty, adaptability, and a deep sense of purpose. Every member of our team brings something unique to the table, yet we move with a shared spirit: to solve challenges with innovation, deliver service with a personal touch, and uplift the businesses we work with by infusing them with the same warmth and reliability that defines us. We don’t just work together—we grow, adapt, and inspire together.
Giving back
At the heart of Langata Link are Neil and Gemma McRae, both born and raised in Kenya. While they’ve traveled abroad for education and leisure, they’ve witnessed firsthand the stark disparity in wealth and living standards within the country. Their involvement in Residents Associations, Sports Club committees, and charity projects throughout their lives in Kenya has shown them how their voices can be heard and how their actions can drive positive change for a better world.
Driven by a desire to give back, Gemma was determined to use the prime location and loyal clientele of the Langata Link complex to make a meaningful impact. In 2018, they launched The Circle of Life Charity Shop, which has grown steadily over time, providing not only funding but also donated goods to support local groups and charities.
The on-site Recycling Station was another initiative that allowed them to engage the local community in sustainability efforts. By encouraging recycling, one bottle at a time, they have helped shift mindsets and foster environmental awareness. The station has become a popular destination for locals and has even inspired other areas to set up their own recycling stations, spreading the message further.
Our Story
At Langata Link, our journey began with a simple vision — to bring high-quality secretarial services and office accommodation closer to home for the residents of Karen and Langata. With a wealth of experience running similar services in town, Heather Lawrence founded Langata Link to meet the growing needs of the community. As word spread and demand increased, so did our services.
Growing With You
Soon, clients began asking for more — from holiday bookings to property rentals and purchases. In response, Langata Link Holiday Homes and Langata Link Real Estate were born. Our offices quickly became the most sought-after space in the area — an all-inclusive hub for professionals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Stylish, convenient, and community-focused, it was the place to be.
A Family Legacy
As the company flourished, Heather’s daughter Gemma, who had been instrumental in the real estate division, stepped up to lead the next chapter. In 2008, Gemma and her husband took over the reins, continuing the family legacy with fresh energy and vision. Heather remained as Chairman for several years before retiring.
Today
What started as a small office service has grown into a vibrant ecosystem of real estate, holiday rentals, and business solutions — all inspired by the needs of our community and driven by a commitment to personal service.
We’re proud to continue growing with you.
